On 9 October 2025, QMTN held a webinar on behaviour change.

This interactive webinar for the Queensland Marine Turtle Network explored how behavioural science can help us encourage positive conservation actions and strengthen community stewardship for marine turtle protection.

The webinar was faciliated by Tracy Schultz (University of Queensland) and Jenn Loder (Great Barrier Reef Foundation)

We explored:

Key principles of behavioural science — what research tells us about how and why people change

Different approaches to influence: when to focus on communication, awareness, or behaviour change

Tools for designing and evaluating conservation and stewardship initiatives, including the new Community Reef Stewardship Monitoring Toolkit and how QMTN members could apply it

About the presenters:

Dr Tracy Schultz is a social scientist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UQ’s School of the Environment, specialising in pro-environmental behaviour. She works with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to develop practical tools for community reef stewardship.
